Shaftesbury Symphony Orchestra was established some 30 years ago. It is a group of amateur musicians who rehearse in term times on Monday evenings.

We end each term with a concert in St James' Church, Shaftesbury.  Proceeds from our concerts go to local charities.

We aim to steadily improve our standard, while at the same time enjoying ourselves!

We welcome enquiries from potential new players - please see Join Us .

We also invite everybody to come to our concerts - see our exciting 2024/25 season plans here.  You can also Subscribe to our Concert Email list.

Our conductor is Sarah Freestone, a musician with a huge range of experience who describes herself as a Composer, Presenter, Animateur and Musician; she plays a wide range of instruments .    Read about her on her website.
