We rehearse on Monday nights, either in St James' Church, Shaftesbury or in Shaftesbury Town Hall.  Each term we have 8 or so rehearsals, with a concert at the end of the term in St James' Church (Click here for directions).  As well as making music we enjoy the social aspect of meeting as a group of musicians and socialise over coffee or tea at each rehearsal.

We are always pleased to hear from potential new members, whether young and developing musicians, adult restarters or experienced players. Our ranks include a wide range of experience from those resuming playing in retirement to ex professionals.

We don’t hold auditions. Membership is open to anyone who feels confident being able to play the repertoire to a good standard and subject to vacancies in the relevant instrumental section. Look at our Upcoming Concerts, Past Concerts and Repertoire pages to get an idea of the sort of music that we play.

Advice is available to prospective members who are unsure as to their suitability, and there is always the opportunity to come and try a rehearsal or two without obligation.

We are always looking for string players & presently need a french horn player too.

However, personnel does shift, so we'd love to hear from you whatever instrument you play!
