We rehearse on Monday nights, either in St James' Church, Shaftesbury or in Shaftesbury Town Hall. Each term we rehearse 10 or so times, with a concert at the end of the term in St James' Church (Click here for directions). As well as making music we enjoy the social aspect of meeting as a group of musicians and socialise over coffee or tea at each rehearsal!
We are always pleased to hear from potential new members, whether young and developing musicians, adult restarters or experienced players.
We don’t hold auditions. Membership is open to anyone who feels confident being able to play the repertoire to a good standard and subject to vacancies in the relevant instrumental section. Look at our Past Concerts or Repertoire pages to get an idea of the sort of music that we play.
Advice is available to prospective members who are unsure as to their suitability, and there is always the opportunity to come and try a rehearsal or two without obligation.
At present we are looking for string players, particularly violins, double bass & harp as well as trombones.
